I just got done reading the chapter on poverty in "The Spirit of the Disciplines." It had the effect of making me feel better about my "wealth," but it didn't really answer why God allows people to live this way. I mean, the short answer I guess is that God gave us stuff so that we could share and they wouldn't have to live that way. But I keep asking, wouldn't it have been easier and more effective to just distribute it all evenly in the first place?
