wow

Does this scare anyone else?

Sounds eerily similar to the Texas compound in the news not too long ago. Wasn't Mel Gibson also creating a Catholic community like this as well? More and more examples of this awful cocooning concept of the church!

Do you light a lamp and then put it inside a walled city with its own medical facility and school? No. (That's my paraphrase anyway)

Wow indeed. And ick.

I think it's sad. It seems those people desiring to join this commune are looking for heaven on earth, and of course that's not what they'll find.

I have often wondered what living in a commune would be like. This scares me but not as much as it probably should.
What is their main reason for doing this? The area has a reputation for being dangerous. Are they looking to provide better services for their congragation? Or are they trying to "brain wash"?

Some of the best hospitals in America where started by Churches, is this what they are trying to provide?

Personally, my three years in a "Christian" school where the best three years of my school career.

I am not going to judge them. I do hope they are doing it for good reasons, but I wonder what the "good reasons" are.

after doing a lot of reading, I have to say that I don't see a problem with this. It sounds like a big building project, nothing more. I hope they are going to provide better schooling, and medical services for the area. Heaven knows the area could use them. They are not, so they say, going to build a wall around themselves. Intersting stuff though thanks Paul for putting it out there.
